Don't know why some many people say he is tiny? In Hollywood he is pretty average, even in the world he is only on the shorter side of average.
Rob, on the "Tom's Cruise on the River Thames Corden" video, Tom looked taller than Corden there, he really looked about 5'8.5-5'9 it seemed. Were those shoe lifts he was using? I feel personally that Corden is a 173 flat guy.
Sometimes, events like this make me believe it's really not impossible Tom was the full 5'8, even though i think 172. He still looks in good shape.

I have to admit, usually TC looks solid 5'8 guy. But I choose to believe there is a possibility that he is 5'7. I am 5'7 and it is quite easy to look as tall as 5'8 guys. Just use decent shoes, make sure you have a good posture and know how to present yourself in pictures.

I would say he looks closer to 5'7 than 5'8. With normal shoes he is not taller than Spielberg, even shorter. So based on those pictures, I would say he is 5'7 (169,5 - 170,5 cm).

Only thing I would say on the Penn comparison is Tom had just turned 19 when Taps was filmed. My 18 year old son was measured at 169 for a pre employment medical, 2 years later at another medical measured 171. Could Tom have put on a another 1-2cms before 21?

There's also the series of full photos and videos of Cruise, 5'7.25" listed Jerry Bruckheimer and Johnny Depp from 2013. Bruckheimer was a few months shy of 70, so even if he was once slightly taller than listed, there's a good chance he wasn't at that time. Cruise generally looked about 3 cm taller than Bruckheimer or at most, 1.5": Click Here Click Here but he was also wearing pretty obvious elevator boots: Click Here Click Here Look at the angle and it's likely those boots could give 2.25" over barefoot height. Particularly since Depp was wearing cowboy boots himself, yet Tom's knees were clearly higher. Considering Bruckheimer appears to be wearing shoes around 1" or so, Tom might not be much different barefoot. Most likely a fraction taller, though. Depp really doesn't look more than 2" max taller than Bruckheimer, even with cowboy boots, but as I've said before, I don't think Depp is a full 5'9". One reason is a photo a friend has with Depp in the 90s and Depp looks maybe 5'8". I've seen a similar photo of myself with this same friend and I certainly look no shorter than Depp did in comparison. I think Johnny could be closer to 5'8.5".
Another example of Tom wearing a thicker elevator boot as opposed to the more typical 2" type elevator he wears was the Knight and Day premiere where he measured up fairly well to Cameron Diaz in heels: Click Here Click Here 2nd photo is a pretty good shot of the boot from the side. I'd guess Tom measured something like 177 cm in those, or near 5'10". Essentially passing for close to his 5'9" claim.
Perhaps the best evidence of Tom being closer to 5'8" than 5'7" is those mid to late 2000s appearances when he'd appear in normal shoes, even on red carpets or on television and was noticeably taller than 5'7". By the 2010s, Tom was primarily focused on action films and wearing lifts most of the time, but there was a period before that when he seemed to appear without lifts a lot. I think this guy is so ridiculed because of his height is because he has no flaws. A very good looking guy, very well dressed and always comes across as charming, so they pick on his height.
You'll notice this with 5'7 Alex Turner too, he comes across very well spoken, very attractive and dresses great. Males ridicule him since he turned his back on his ''chav'' style and acted a bit of a womaniser, girls love him but men dislike him, often turning to his height.
I think a good looking tall guy like Hemsworth, it's harder to pick on. But had Hemsworth been 5'7, it's all they'd talk about. It's strange, because for some reason you don't hear much people giving Johnny Depp heat and he's 5'9.

I think Douglas and Gibson were both 5'9" and Tom about 5'7.5", but all 3 men were known to wear lifts at one time or another so you may get weird results in photos.

Rob, Something is very strange when Tom was young and new to this industry he constantly looked small about 5'7 for example in the movie Taps with Sean Penn and in his other movies at that time as well but nowadays I always guess him at the minimum of 5'8 and many time 5'9 surprisingly towering over other 5'8 to 5'8.5 guys.
I am sure Sean Penn is about 5'8, I cannot even think him as a 5'8.5 guy because many guys who have 5'8.5 are taller than him and even Joaquin Phoenix with some footware advantage and better posture was 1 to 1.5 inch taller than him in their movie together.
And in Taps Tom always had a commando like posture and Sean had a normal good posture then also he was like a inch taller.
How is that possible.

Please don't resort to footwear difference - you can look closely at Tom's shoes.There is no bulging at the front. Because he has worn enhanced footwear at times people have brought into media brainwashing and assume he's wearing them all the time. Carice has about 3 inches of footwear in each picture.

Look at the three photos above. Cruise is willing to stand next to taller women, and doesn't mind that they're wearing heels. You have to admire him for that. He's like Sean Connery refusing to wear a toupee.
The only thing about Cruise that kind of made me flinch was that he cast himself as Jack Reacher. (And if you have never read a Reacher book, give them a try.) Reacher's defining trait is that he's a giant. Cruise as Reacher would be like John Travolta as Sherlock Holmes. Just not right.

Personally I wouldn't bet on who was the taller man.
Yeah most of bollywood is massively overlisted on the site. Sendhil has a picture with rob and so does Jimmy Jean Louis. In pics with Jimmy, Sendhil looks max 5'9.5", and Jimmy himself looked a weak 5'11" with Rob. It's pretty clear to me that Anil kapoor has the edge on Tom (keep in mind Cruise is wearing thicker footwear). If Anil Kapoor is 5'8.5"-5'9" then Sendhil is 5'11.5"-6'0" (by comparisons with sophie chaudhary, it's pretty obvious that the difference between them is around 3", maybe even a hair more). That would make Rob a very storng 5'10". You realize how ridiculous that sounds?

Not that Tom is tiny though but even if he was he would laugh it off and rise above what people say, he would want every person to rise above any thing other people say.
I have an inkling that if Tom met me he would think that we are both about the same height, if Rob measured Tom and my good self we would then know you know!
